Taking Time for Mommy
As much as stay at home moms enjoy being able to spend quality time with their kids and devote time and energy to the efficient running of their households, the job itself can never the less be extremely exhausting. Stay at home moms are just as much prone, if not more so, to burn out and exhaustion as any Fortune 500 CEO. In fact, in a manner of speaking; that is exactly how a stay at home mom can be described; she is the CEO of her household, responsible for ensuring that everything and everyone is taken care. Therefore, it’s important that stay at home moms find ways to relax and rejuvenate so they can continue to perform the tasks they love.
A few clues that may indicate it’s time for a break include growing impatience with the kids, consistent exhaustion and the feeling that you’re at the end of your rope. When you feel as though you’re unraveling it’s time to set aside some time for yourself. Below are some tips to help you find ways in which you can replenish your energy supply.
One of the most important things you can do is to make sure that you have a period of time each day to yourself. Remember that the laundry and dishes will always be there, but taking even 30 minutes to yourself can make a dramatic difference in how you feel as well as how you interact with your family. Set aside a half hour each day to relax and enjoy something such as a hobby, reading, etc.
While you certainly may feel as though you get sufficient exercise chasing toddlers and running to clean up one mess after another, it’s important to make sure that you are also getting plenty of good cardiovascular exercise. When you feel things are getting to you, take the time to go for a walk or job. The time will benefit both your heart and your mental psyche.
Remember that just because you’re a stay at home mom does not mean that you must put an end to things that you pursued with passion before becoming a mom. An important part of maintaining balance is making sure that you do not abandon your interests and talents. Set aside some time periodically to pursue your talents and find ways in which you can utilize them. This can be a tremendous boon to your self-confidence.
